Class Listing- October 2009


Notice to our customers:  We have a new 48 hour cancellation policy effective July 1, 2009.  If a class does not have the required number of students prior to 48 hours of the class date, the class may be cancelled.  Register early to prevent a class from being cancelled that you may be interested in.  Stop in or call today to reserve your spot.  Payment must be made at time of registration. Thank you for your understanding.

 

About our classes:  BYOB (Bring Your Own Basics) Your basic tool kit is needed for all classes, if additional supplies are needed they will be included in the class description.  Our instructors will be happy to make you   a kit with full instructions if you are unable to attend a particular class.  When reserving your spot, just let us know you would like it to be kit. Once the class has taken place, your kit will be available for pick up at the front counter.  Our classes are normally 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours in length unless specified as a workshop which is 3 to 4 hours of instruction.

 

Candy Crop – Friday, October 2 from 5:00 PM – 11:00PM   -- $7

Join us for our Candy Crop!  There will be NO DINNER OR SNACKS but plenty of soda and candy at this crop. You are MORE than welcome to bring your dinner with you, and we will have menus from several of the nearby restaurants so you can call and order food for take-out or delivery. As always you’ll have 6 hours of uninterrupted cropping. Bring all your supplies and we will provide you with plenty of working space, as well as use of our die cut center. You don’t have to be a scrapbooker to enjoy our crops. Bring your stamping and paper arts supplies and enjoy 6 hours of creative time. Drawings for prizes too!

 

Clean & Simple Cards – World Card Making Day

World Card Making Day is a special holiday for card markers around the world celebrating the creativity of handmade cards and the personal connection that they create between friends and family.  This is a great class to connect with fellow card makers, gain encouragement, and be inspired.  Sue will spark your passion for card making as you make 6 clean & simple cards. Join this class and see how simple it is to make a beautiful collection of cards ready to share with others.

 

Saturday Night Layouts (SNL) – ALL NEW LAYOUTS

Brought to you live, from Eclectica Scrapbooks & Stamps-Saturday Night Layouts!! For this special night we bring you two of our very talented scrapbook instructors, Danielle and Liz.  They are ready to lead you through eight (8) 12 x 12 page layouts. No holding back here, these girls have got talent and you will be amazed at the new techniques and ideas you leave class with. You will be taking a small break, so be sure and bring yourself a snack to keep your energy level going!

Going Green Mini Album

We all know the words - recycle, reuse and reduce as ways to save our environment.  Danielle knows all about Going Green with this adorable mini album made from toilet paper rolls. This mini album is packed with techniques that you will love adding to your creative skills.  You will learn ways to add beauty to your scrapbooking while maintaining your pocketbook.  It will make a darling mini album all about you, or use it to feature your children, either way you will love this adorable treasure and find yourself replicating it many times in the future.  In addition to your basic tool kit, please bring a fine point black pen and a strong adhesive such as Scrappy glue.

 

Introduction to Stamping

There seems to be a wealth of stamping products everywhere you look and although it looks simple enough, it can be quite intimidating in choosing the right products for a beginner.  Join Skye as she teaches you about the types of inks, papers, and stamping tools available on the market today.  Learn techniques of stamping such as embossing, omission, resist, and masking.  With the skills you learn in this class you will be a stamping pro in no time.  An intimate class setting with the instructor sitting across from you means you’ll be able to ask questions throughout the class on a variety of stamping subjects.

You will leave the class with instructional sheets containing a wealth of information about inks, papers, stamps and how to care for your stamping products.

 

Scrapbooking 101

Are you intrigued by the scrapbooking phenomena? Do you want to see if it is right for you before you take the plunge?  This class offers everything you need to know to get started scrapbooking. This class covers the basics – tools, adhesives, albums, etc. We will let you test drive different tools and adhesives so you can make an informed decision when you invest in the things you need to make your memories last forever.  Bring 4-6 photos of any one event or theme and we’ll walk you through your first 12x12 layout.

 

St. Jude Crop – 24 Hour Crop

Friday, October 9 at 5:00 PM till Saturday, October 10 at 5:00 PM -- $75 per person

We are hosting our annual 24 hour St Jude crop and what a worthy cause.  As a participant you will receive a goody bag of scrapbooking swag in addition to other perks.  A portion of your crop fee will go directly to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and you are more than welcome to collect additional donations from family and friends.  Bring all your supplies and we will provide you with plenty of work space, as well as use of our die cut center.  You don’t have to be a scrapbooker to enjoy our crops.  Bring your stamping and paper art supplies and enjoy 24 hours of creative time.  We will provide you dinner on Friday and breakfast and lunch on Saturday with light snacks throughout the crop.  We’ll have drawings for prizes and plenty of fun. If you can only support one cause a year, please consider this one. 

 

“The Gift’s Inside” Speciality Holiday Card Class

Often we want to give a special someone more than just a card during the holidays, but don’t have the budget to give a full-out gift.  That’s where these creatively made cards come in handy!  Join Alissa as she teaches you how to make three speciality cards, complete with a variety of new card folds and techniques to hold mini-gifts, all of which we’ll also make or alter in class.  You’ll walk away with three completed cards, each with its own small gift inside, detailed instructions and a color photograph of the samples so you can easily recreate the cards.  In addition to your basic tool kit, please bring a fast drying liquid adhesive (such as Scrappy glue), an assortment of glue dots, and a scoring blade for your trimmer.

Heritage Pages

Thursday, October 15 at 10:30 AM – $18                                            Instructor: Liz

This class is for anyone who would like to record and preserve their family heritage.  You will create 3 beautiful 12x12 pages that will inspire you to dig through your heritage photos and create priceless heirlooms to pass on to rising generations.  You will leave this class with picture-ready layouts, detailed instructions and alternate sketches.  Be sure to stop by the store blog for a sneak peek of what you’ll be creating in class.

 

Glimmer Mist Techniques

Friday, October 16 at 6:30 PM -- $20                                  Instructor: Kimm

Take shimmer and shine to a whole new level and discover the fun and ease waiting in every bottle of Glimmer Mist!  In this class with Kimm, participants will work step by step to create 3 amazing projects featuring Glimmer Mist sprays:  a scrapbook page, a fabulous handmade card and a 3-D project for gift giving.  Class participants will be pleased with their projects as they learn techniques with this awesome product line.

 

Autumn Harvest Wreath

Inspired by a high-end boutique!  Dress up an interior door, the back of a chair or hang this beautifully paper crafted Autumn wreath on the wall.  It’s sure to impress your guests and add a cozy Fall feeling to your home!  Alissa will teach you how to perfectly cover a foam wreath in paper, and add Fall embellishments to add texture, dimension and interest.  In addition to your basic tool kit, please bring Chestnut Roan Chalk ink (or equivalent) and an assortment of glue dots.

 

Copic Marker Introductory Class – New Projects

Don’t Stress Over Distress Products

Monday, October 19 at 6:30 PM -- $17                          Instructor: Cheryl

Do you ever get frustrated when a product you are using does not quite look right?  Not sure how to use a distress product?  In this class, Cheryl will be teaching you how to use a variety of Tim Holtz distressing products.  You will learn about distress ink, distress embossing powder, and another product that will be a surprise!  You will leave class with several completed altered tags ready for use and a technique book with instructions and samples of what you have learned. You will love having this technique book that you can add to in the future as you learn more techniques of distressing.

 

Creative Cards:  Thoughtfully Thankful

Holiday Pages

The holidays will be here before you know it and it’s never too early to get a head start on creating festive pages to record your family memories.  In this class you will create 4 12x12 pages to help you capture family togetherness, annual traditions and everything else that makes Christmas the most wonderful time of the year.  You will leave this class with picture-ready layouts, detailed instructions and alternate sketches.

 

Adorable Faces with Copics

Friday, October 23 at 6:30 PM -- $17                     Instructor: Kimm

Color faces and hair with the professional results of Copic Markers!  Achieving beautiful coloring results will be a breeze as Kimm shows you how to work with Copic markers to color adorable images from some of Eclectica’s newest stamp lines.  Kimm will share blending tips and offer individual assistance with each step as we focus on faces and hair.  Class participants will work with 2 different images and learn blending and layering techniques specific to skin and hair types and complete their images into adorable cards.  You won’t want to miss this Copic marker class!

 

Thankful Banner

QuicKutz Klub Meeting

Eclectica hosts a membership meeting each month for its QuicKutz Klub members.  Through membership you receive a free 2x2 die each month, great monthly specials for members only and at each meeting you make a free make-n-take with the use of QuicKutz products.  The biggest bonus is meeting and sharing with other fellow QuicKutz junkies.  We host many swaps and give back to the community through donating cards to nursing homes and our Nation’s troops.  Sound like something that might interest you?  Call the store for more details and get involved today! 

 

Pop Up Circle Themed Scrapbook

Friday, October 30 at 10:30 AM -- $14        Instructor: Skye

Perfect for photos from a single event, this album folds closed for mailing, and makes a great table-top display when it’s opened up.  Each of the four quadrants can display 3 photos and plenty of design elements.  Created from 4 12x12 scalloped circle papers from Bazzill, the album is further decorated with stamped images and scalloped photo mats.  It’s a perfect brag book for grandparents or a favorite aunt.  Filled with photos of your recent vacation, set it on your office desk or pop it in your purse to take out when you have lunch with your friends.  You are encouraged to bring 4-12 photos to add to your album in class – or take it home photo-ready and add them later.  A variety of colors and stamps will be available to you so you can customize this album.

 

 

 

Bring Your Own Basics (BYOB) to every class.

You will need your basic supply kit for all classes:

Straight scissors, paper trimmer & your favorite dry adhesive  

                      Other tools frequently used in class include mini dots, pop dots and black ink.

                                                                                     

Unless otherwise specified, our classes are limited to ages 14 and up. 

Please, no infants or children in classes or crops.

Crop Attendees must be age 16 or older.

 

Cancellations must be received 24 hours in advance in order to receive credit towards another class.   Thank you for your understanding.

 

 ***Please note:  The classroom area is available for your use anytime there is not a class or event in progress. Call the store before arriving to confirm space is available.  Feel free to use this space to work on your projects.  You may use the die cutting center for free if your papers are purchased at Eclectica.
